SPACE 2

MOON : TWINKLE, TWINKLE : COSMONAUT, CONSUMMATE

MOON

Suspended in solid dark
She spills her silver,
On our world.
Some have walked
Across those shining seas,
Left their human imprints
On her pox marked face
And brought her dust to earth.
In spite of which
This full moon still captivates
Earthbound lovers encouraging them
To explore each other
And experience
Walking on the moon.

TWINKLE, TWINKLE

I waited
Trying to keep warm
In the cold coming of dawn.
The frost crunched hard
Under my restless feet,
Until my cold waiting
Was surprised
By your shining star
Coming swiftly and silently
Across my sky.
You may have looked down
And smiled
To see me waving.
I watched until
You disappeared
Into the brightening horizon
Of a new day.
We shall wave again
To each other.
Another time.
Twinkle, twinkle...

COSMONAUT, CONSUMMATE!

Will you, Ekaterina,  take Yuri,
To be your lawful wedded cosmonaut
And journey to the stars?
And you, Yuri?
 Will you take Ekaterina
And dock with her, suspended
Between earth and space?
And take advantage of weightlessness
To explore more positions
Than ever imagined in the Karma Sutra,
To consummate your cosmic union?
We will!

A couple have had a wedding that is truly out of this world! The bride was in Texas, USA, but the groom was 240 miles above the earth in space on the International Space Station (ISS). Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko married his American girlfriend by video link between the ISS and Nasa space control in Houston. Bride Yekaterina Dmitriyeva wore a traditional ivory wedding dress, while her husband wore a bright blue space suit with a bow tie. His best man was fellow astronaut Edward Lu who played the wedding march on a portable keyboard. And so she didn't feel too lonely, the bride stood next to a cardboard cut-out of her groom. The couple wanted to get married in the same room, but Yuri's space mission was extended, so they decided to have a space wedding.
